Episode Guide and Video Clips - Open Water Salmon

Overview

The salmon fishing on Lake Ontario can be exceptional in the summer months, especially off the shores of Pickering. Join Shaun and his old friend Jennifer Lynch as they head out into Lake Ontario in search of trophy chinook salmon. On this week's show, Shaun demonstrates downrigging techniques using cut-bait, rigged on Rhys Davis teaser heads behind flashers. The action is fast and furious and by days end, one goes home with aching arms and shoulders.

Watch as Jennifer goes head to head with her first 20lb plus salmon. She quickly learns that these fish have incredible power and that fighting them on rod and reel should not be taken lightly.

Shaun's summary of the shoot: "I simply had a blast fishing with Jen! She actually started out a little cocky; soon realizing that landing a salmon was not as straightforward and simple as she had thought. At one point I actually thought the fish was going to pull her over the back of the boat. We did some creative editing to remove some of the colorful statements she made while fighting the big fish. It took almost 20 minutes to land the one fish; she was knackered when it was all over! I'd never been out for salmon with Jen before but she was a great guest and a lot of fun. I'd take her again anytime".
