Episode Guide and Video Clips - Top-Water Bass

Overview

Shaun, his wife Anik and friends, Drew and Jessica Primrose, head up to the Kawartha's for a weekend of top-water bass fishing. It's hard to beat the thrill of a top-water lure being smashed on the surface. It's something that you experience once and become addicted to immediately. This week Shaun exposes a great lodge located on beautiful Lovesick Lake, while demonstrating some deadly tactics for mid summer bass. Along the way the group hook up with a few unexpected surprises! Forest Hill Lodge is where the group will call home during their trip. The lodge offers a feeling of being at a fly-in camp, yet it is located only 1.5 hours from Toronto and is very affordable.

Lovesick Lake is situated between Lower Buckhorn Lake and Stoney Lake; both of these fine fisheries offer fantastic musky, bass, pan fish and walleye fishing. They are also accessible by lock from Lovesick Lake for those who wish to explore a little further a field. Shaun's summary of the shoot: "I have a pretty hectic schedule these days so it's always nice to be able to get away on a trip with my wife. We both have very demanding careers and rarely see each other some weeks. Anik is somewhat of a fair-weather "fisherwoman", therefore summertime is definitely the season that she most enjoys being on the water. I have to give her credit where credit is due, despite being somewhat of a "part time" angler, she can actually use a bait caster better than many men I know. She is also a demon at backing the boat in at the launch ramp, again, something that many of male friends have trouble with. As far as Jess and Drew go, what a great couple! We've been friends for some time now and it's always nice to get out on the water with both of them. Drew is a very knowledgeable angler and a tenacious one at that; sometimes a little too tenacious. He won't leave the water until he has caught fish so you would literally have to tie a rope around his waist and drag him back to the dock. I guess that's what makes him the angler that he is. Both Anik and Jess are very patient and understanding ladies. They allow us to pursue our passions to the limit and this is hard to find in a partner at times, if you know what I mean (o: It was a great weekend. The bass weren't too cooperative but we had fun anyway and that's what it's all about!"
